The Specialty Coffee Association of India (Scai) had organized 5th Annual India Barista Championship (IBC) 2006 at the forum Mall from January 30 to February 2. The total number of Baristas that had participated in the contest were 44 and they proved their mettle in brewing the perfect cup of tea in 15 minutes. They had to give the most creative cup of coffee with most unique recipes. Gautam K S of Parimala Coffee Works, Sagar, got the award of India’s Barista Competition.



Gautam received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and will be representing India for the next level of the World Barista Championship, to be held at Berne, Switzerland. The second and third winners were Felix Daniel of Cafe Coffee Day, Bangalore and Ronald Hillary of Cafe Coffee Day, Nagpur.
