The luscious berries have proved to be more than succulent for the suppliers in the UK with a reported sale of £204m this year. Facts provided claim that there has been a 5 percent increase in the sale of berries, 31 percent increase in case of blackberries and a 26 percent rise in the sale of raspberries.

Doubtless of the fact that the antioxidant trend coupled with the freaky flavor blends had taken both the UK and the US into the berry-fold, what has added to consumers’ satisfaction is the availability of the berry supply throughout the year.

Needless to say, the fruit market had predicted the inevitable preference of consumers for berries in everything from whole grain cereal to vodka. Therefore British Summer Fruits (BSF), had made all attempts to make sure of supplies running parallel to marketing stunts, where the latter plays a very little role because of the already flaunted health research backing-up berries.

Earlier reports in BBC claims that most of the consumers in the UK preferred berries for their flexibility to add flavor and health in almost every meal including foodstuffs like cereals, soups, green vegetables, meats, yogurts and even desserts. Addition of berries in almost every meal as a regular food item just proves the sales figure of this exotic fruit more than anything else.
