From Scotch Pancakes to the American Pancakes the difference in the thickness and width. The American pancakes are larger, crusty and thicker than the Scotch Pancakes. These pancakes are served in breakfast and topped with maple syrup and butter. They are also referred to as hotcakes, griddlecakes and flapjacks and are served in restaurants in a stack of 3 to 4. These pancakes are made in the following way:

Ingredients:

500g Flour
2 eggs
65g Sugar
Vanilla Essence
250ml Milk
Half Teaspoon Salt
3 tsp. baking soda
Vegetable Oil

Method:

1. Cream sugar and eggs
2. Sift baking soda, salt and flour.
3. Blend in flour and milk simultaneously into the egg and sugar mixture.
4. Brush an iron skillet or a crepe pan with oil and heat it properly.
5. Spread the batter evenly on the skillet, taking cared that you maintain 1 cm thickness.
6. Once bubbles appear on the pancake and the edges are browned flip the pancakes and cook until brown
7. Make a stack of 3-4 pancakes and pour maple syrup over it and add a knob of butter over it.

The American Pancakes rock with their economy, as a filler and depending on the flour used in the pancakes can be made more nutritious. Moreover, these pancakes give you full room to exercise your creativity when served with ice cream, strawberries, fruits, jams and other sweet syrups when you serve it as a full fledged desserts.
